For Kyma in Downtown West Palm Beach, we transformed both the ground floor and rooftop dining areas with custom shade solutions designed for comfort, flexibility, and unobstructed views.
Here’s what we did:
Ground Floor
At Avli, the ground floor dining area we designed and installed a custom cantilevered architectural aluminum canopy. The canopy is completely suspended and anchored to the building with no columns. We installed a retractable En-Fold awning system that is anchored between 2 buildings, providing a seamless flow between the ground floor dining areas and kitchen. Lastly, we installed hurricane MagnaTrack Screens at the perimeter, providing wind protection and security for the restaurant during closing hours.
Rooftop:
The Tarrazza at Kyma West Palm Beach is currently the tallest Rooftop in Downtown West Palm Beach. The Smart Shade team originally designed and installed 9 custom bioclimatic rotating louver systems at the rooftop. Part of the design included a custom support structure for the louver systems, eliminating the need for center columns and keeping an open dining area. The original installation is part of our project at 300 Banyan.
For the next stage of the installation we manufactured and installed a custom support frame for the decorative wood ceiling panels below the louver system and added Hurricane MagnaTrack screens at the perimeter of the louver systems, providing wind and rain protection when needed.
